Men's Stuff

Why Men’s Stuff?

Ø    Less than 40% of church attenders are men and at the current rate of loss and without God’s intervention it is predicted that by 2028 men will all but have disappeared from the church

Ø    If a man is saved then there is a 93% likelihood that the rest of the family will be saved, this contrasts with 3.5% if a child is saved and 17% if a mother is saved

Strategically “Men’s Stuff” makes an awful lot of sense!

Why Me?

Ø    God spoke to me in a dramatic way whilst attending a Christian Vision for Men Conference in October last year, ask me if you want to find out more. Amongst other things God challenged me to give Him some quality time in relation to working with men. The end result being that I am working a day a week focusing on “Men’s Stuff”

What Does It Mean?

Ø    Initially a two-pronged focus

v   To see men saved

v   A desire to see men in LBC excited about what God wants to do in their lives.

Some Challenges

Ø   How do we make church “man-friendly”, let’s be honest – it isn’t!

Ø   To change expectancy - “Boys will be boys, and so will a lot of middle-aged men” - Hubbard, 1868-1930

Some Thoughts

Ø    “Men only want three things - Peace and quiet, the big chicken leg and the television remote” – is that really true?

Ø    “Men who never get carried away should be” - Malcolm Forbes (1919-90) – go on, let us have fun!

What Are We Doing?

Ø    Men’s breakfasts, quality venues and quality speakers

Ø    Men’s events to which we can invite our friends ------- any ideas for what you want to do?

Ø    Small group of men meeting together, sharing together, growing together
