Missionaries

We want to help people understand more about Jesus and what it means to follow him.  And, for people who like what they hear, we want to help them grow in their faith.  Although friends and neighbours are really important to us, we stretch out further to help people in this country and abroad.  The New Testament of the Bible - the part that is about the life of Jesus and the start of the Church - is very clear that we should do this. And we want to. We call this by the rather old-fashion word Mission.  In some cases, we as a church support other organisations financially.  But also, some of our Church Members have decided to do this work full time, and so we support them financially, through our prayer, and in other ways. 20% of our regular income goes to support mission beyond the New Forest.

The missionaries and organisations we currently support have been chosen because they represent a broad range of missionary activity, both locally and internationally.  They have also been chosen because we believe that they reflect the mission interest of the church as a whole and we already have some form of relationship with them.

Matt Lawes is working with young people with British Youth For Christ in Swindon for a year. Get their Twitters here.

Our long-term mission partners include our menbers:

Arthur and Louise Brown – in Beirut with BMS World Mission
Mark and Sharon Biddell – in Thailand
Nigel Hallet - in Islamabad with Basis Community
A family working in the Middle East where it's too dangerous for them to be named on a website - but do pray for them.

We also support the Baptist Home Mission which supports Baptist churches in the UK who are too new or too small to fully support themselves.

Giving money is only one part of being a supporter of God’s Work - these folk need regular prayer, human resources, personal interest and encouragement.  To find out more speak to our World Mission Team.
