Prayer

If you've come to this page because you want someone to pray for you, or you want to pray for sombody else, and you are not sure how to, the small prayer at the foot of this page may help.

Prayer is how we communicate with God.  We pray together to God as part of our Sunday morning service, and most of us pray on our own lots of other times too.   It might be when we are in the car, or it could be whilst we are sitting quietly at home.  In prayer, we may well be asking God for help for ourselves or others, but we also use it to thank and honour God for what he does for us.  As a Church, we believe that prayer is very important indeed.   It lies at the heart of Lymington Baptist Church, the powerhouse and engine room.

Often, people want to get together with others to pray, so we have a number of Prayer Groups, and we invite all who consider Lymington Baptist Church to be ‘their' church to join one of them.  They meet for one hour, once a month.

We have three special interest groups; 'Mission & Missionaries’, ‘Children & Schools’ and 'Men's Ministry'. The remainder focus on the life and ministry of the church, on the basis that unless we pray for the church nobody else will!

These prayer groups take place at different times of the day to ensure there’s a time to suit everyone. 6.30am, 10.30 am, 12.30 pm, 8 pm and 10 pm.   See the section 'Forthcoming Events' for details.  There is usually a noticeboard in the foyer where you can put your name down for a group.

Chris Sewell leads the Prayer Ministry.   He'll be happy to tell you more.

Pray for a Change

We consider prayer so important, that every other month we call the whole church together for an evening to pray for the Church's life and ministry.   These events are characterised by dynamic prayer interspersed with heartfelt worship.

An example Prayer:

Father God,
I come to you at a time of need and I know that you will hear me.
Please help me (or name of person)
My concern is (just say what is on your mind)
In Jesus's name I ask that you will (whatever you want God to do to help)
Amen
